SENIOR FINANCE OFFICER (LAGOS MAINLAND)

JOB DESCRIPTION


To provide a high standard of service in key financial accounting operational functions including
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, Banking and PayrollAnalysis/Review.
Responsible for ensuring ongoing general financial administration services and cash management.
This role involves working to strict monthly deadlines in line with the company’s month end closure
and monthly payroll timetable. The post-holder will be expected to work flexibly in order to meet
key deadlines.

  • Oversee and manage the daily accounting and finance functions including timely
    recording of transactions, cash management, banking, payroll, inventory, receivables,
    and payables.
  • Plan and implement systems for financial operations  and in project operations in accordance with the donor regulations; including systems for cash flow management, budgeting, consolidation of accounting information, internal controls, financial reporting, financial record-keeping, grant management and compliance.
  • Train and supervise finance staff in the department.
  • Maintain banking relations and plan and monitor cash flow requirements to ensure the
    smooth implementation of projects and operations.
  • Prepare monthly standard accounting submissions to Managing Director, including account
    reconciliations, expenditures by cost/project, as well as other financial information in a
    timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare monthly management reports to the Managing Director as required, including
    operations/project expenditures and other financial information, in a timely and accurate
    manner.
  • Prepare financial reports, for review by the Managing Director and to donors in line with
    donor requirements and templates.
  • Assist in developing annual fiscal yearly budgets together with the Administration
    Manager
  • Continuously stay abreast with donor policies, procedures, rules and regulations;
  • Ensure compliance with donor financial policies and procedures.
  • Establish a filing system that allows you to keep track of deadlines for each report. This
    may include tax returns, financial statements, employee payroll reports, and others.
    Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director.

This position supervises Finance Officers

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
  • A bachelor’s degree in equivalent in accounting, finance or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional working experience in a similar position.
  • Substantial and proven industry experience.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive financial management experience is required
  • Professional qualification in accountancy such as ACA or ICAN will be an added advantage

  • Ability to work under pressure and on irregular working hours
  • Ability to occasionally conduct training of staff within the financial management area.
